Spark had a friend who built the engine in a much earlier iteration on OSX, however I don't think his friend was in a position to commit to supporting that platform and was just seeing if it would work for fun with some free time he had. But it can be done, or at least, it could be done at one time and probably wouldn't take TOO much hassle to make it work now.

Wait on a reply from Spark for this, but we are open to the idea, we would just need people to take that initiative and make that commitment to support OSX. We don't have the resources to do it ourselves yet, and we are hoping to grow more. If you or someone you know, or someone reading this, would like to get involved, we're all for reaching that platform, certainly.

Currently, however, the only way is to dual boot to a Linux distro or Windows.

This would require:

1) basic porting -- setting up build environment, ironing out any bugs
2) using ogre mac support (bullet should work out of the box)
3) sorting out openal for mac (no idea, presumably not very hard)
3) porting clipboard / mouse / keyboard functionality to use mac os libraries

We have no plans to do this at current but would support some other developer doing it.

I'm not a hacker or developer by any means. I know some people who are pretty smart at this stuff but I don't know how much they would want to help. What Linux distro (Mint, Ubuntu, Debian, Arch, other) would best work with Grit? I pretty much hate windows.

What really caught my eye about this engine was the word "community". I'm looking for a good online community. I found some of this community in an MMO called Clan Lord. I also found a very good community in Oberin, a mac only MMO. Different MMO's seem to have some of what I'm looking for but I can't seem to find one that has everything I want. If I can't find the MMO or community I'm looking for, then I have ideas on how to create it in an MMO.
