Hello people

I've decided, now that i have a free week (more or less) I should take time to start prototyping one project that i will do myself.

I'm going to write down everything i have in mind right now, feel free to discuss & give new ideas and we will see. This project is not linked to main Grit's project, meaning I'm the one that decides what the project does, inside the limitations of the engine.

Main theme: Paradisaic off-road racing in a free-roam environment, post-apocalypse feel.

Think Motorstorm Pacific Rift meets freeroam.

Main plot by now is a group of lunatics find a paradisiac island that used to have a luxury hotel complex, now abandonated for whatever reason. The freaks aproach the islands in big ships & planes, they are going to create a party-island which the main event is the vehicle events. The player, will have the posibility to buy different vehicles & tune them, customize paintjobs and have fun in a island with multiple minigames and online challengues.

Gameplay:

The main event includes:
Normal lap-based & from point A to B races
destruction derby in arenas
Protect the VIP
Last man standing
There will be freeroam mini-games, hidden secrets & more.

Vehicles:

Based on wreck cars adapted to offroad racing, from normal sedans to monster trucks: SUVs, trucks, school buses, ice cream trucks... maybe motorbikes, boats & even helicopters?

Map:

A tropical small island, main environment is the jungle, with rivers, mud, and lots of vegetation.
An abandoned hotel complex is used as the event's main base & office
There is an small town at the other side of the island based on wooden houses.
The island has a big mountain to where you can climb and do various challenges

Ideas: abandoned factories, castle...

Sounds great JV, time to see some really epic work go into the Grit engine!

If you need any guidance on the cars etc, then just ask, I'd be happy to help you ;).

George

It sounds cool and all, but I think the engine needs to have driving bugs fixed first. :hehe:

If you start with one race track and reuse the props and surrounding scenery for the open world, you can make an awesome track that gives much of what you need for the whole shabam. A way to complete something on the way, and then continue with the same stuff for bigger/more open use.

Because it's a good idea! Is your main PC back up and running?

Yup! a race in a jungle environment with cliffs, dirt and stunts is one of the 8-) idea ever.
